The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on April 10, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Amendment in Export Policy Condition under HSN 1006 of Schedule-lI(Export Policy), ITC(HS) 2022.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Government of India has amended export rules for Rice (both Basmati and Non-Basmati) under the Foreign Trade Policy with immediate effect.
• Exports of rice to:
o EU member states
o United Kingdom
o Iceland
o Liechtenstein
o Norway
o Switzerland
will continue to require a Certificate of Inspection from Export Inspection Council/Export Inspection Agencies (EIAs).
• For exports to all other European countries, the Certificate of Inspection requirement has been temporarily removed.
• The change aims to simplify rice exports to non-EU European markets while maintaining strict inspection requirements for EU and specified
This exemption applies for six months, up to October 01, 2026
